In the Chinese market, there are probably one to two hundred UV printer factories. There are a wide variety of UV printers on the market, and the quality of the machines is also uneven. At present, all UV printers can be divided into two categories: one is the modified machine, and the other is an home-grown machine. Modified printer, a printer including the main-board, print head, car station, etc., is dismantled by different device s and reassembled in new. For example, the motherboard of the A3 machine we often talk about is modified from a Japanese Epson printer.

There are three main aspects of the modified machine:

1. Replace the software and system board with a UV machine;

2. Replace the ink path system with a dedicated ink path for UV ink;

3. Replace the curing and drying system with a particular UV curing system.

Modified UV printers mostly stay below the price of $2500, and more than 90% use Epson L805 and L1800 nozzles print heads; the print formats with a4 and a3, some of them are a2. If one printer has these three characteristics, and 99% it should be a modified machine.

The other is an home-grown UV printer, a UV printer developed by a Chinese manufacturer with top research and development strength. It is equipped with multiple nozzles simultaneously to achieve the effect of white and color output, significantly improving the printing efficiency of the UV printer, and it can work continuously for 24 hours—the ability to print uninterruptedly, which is not available in the modified machine.

Therefore, we should realize that the modified machine is a copy of the original UV tablet machine. It is a company without independent R&D and production capacity. The price is relatively low, maybe only half of the cost of the flatbed printer. However, the stability and performance of such printers are insufficient. For customers who are new to UV printers, due to the lack of corresponding experience, it is difficult to distinguish which is the modified machine and which is the original machine from the appearance and performance. Some feel that they bought a machine that someone else spent a lot of money to buy for a small amount of money, but they saved a lot of money. In fact, they lost a lot and spent three thousand U.S. dollars more to buy it. After a 2-3 years period, people will need to choose with another printer.

However, “What is reasonable is real; that which is real is reasonable.” Few of clients do not with higher budget for a home-grown printer, a temporary printer will be suitable for them too.
